The new forecasting is underway. Most of the categories have been reviewed and we have our first one out of the gate. So you all are aware of the process I've noted the steps below....
- Sales reports based on last 6 months sales are run and vendors are place in categories
- Each category is reviewed at one time and in segments of "large", "medium" and "small" stores, keeping in mind their space requirements for each size.
-Categories are reviewed for results and handed over to purchasing for ROP implementation.
- Each category will be released to a given schedule (below)
- Stores then run an overstock return on the released ROPs to send back excess product
Release Dates:
8-25-08 SmittyBilt
This one has had the standard review but with extra steps to push the entire line since it is our own. I reviewed the line as normal , then Sean reviewed to establish ROP levels. General rule is a space of about 8'x8'. Refer to the SmittyBilt memo for setup pictures. Instruction: this being own line we will be selling down to your given ROP levels. Do Not do a stock return on this category.
8-15-08 Jacks
Hi-Lift, SmittyBilt
This was our first trial run on the new forecasting system. With one glitch in the process fixed, it seemed to role out well. SmittyBilt jacks will be duplicated when the whole line gets uploaded. Instruction: this lines sells well and should easily be reduced by your own sales. Do Not do a stock return on this category.
9-4-08 Winches
Warn, SmittyBilt, T-Max, Mile Marker, Master Pull
This one gets changed in the next day or two. It's pretty straight forward with the exception of stores with slower sales (201,221,222,223,47,51,17,208,32,202,40) will be getting a small bundle of about 5-6 empty winch boxes directly from Warn. Use them to make sure your gondolas look full mixed in with your existing inventory. Instruction: Return only items with a MIN=0. Return ONLY if you have a company truck that goes back to your DC, otherwise sell down to your new ROP value.
9-4-08 Performance
Pro Comp (class HYP & HYP1), Bullydog, Hypertech, Superchip, Banks, Magnaflow
This one gets changed in the next day or two as well. This one probably has the biggest shift of product from what you have to what you need, mostly because of the applications that are constantly in flux. It should also be one of the easier to finish since the product is either in the glass towers or warehouse. Instruction: Return only items with a MIN=0. Run a stock return to capture unneeded items.
9-23-08 Air Intake
K/N, AirAid, AFE, AEM, Banks
This section represents anywhere between 8'-24' of gondola space in your showroom depending on your store size. In this category this new forecasting had one of the biggest impacts in the way items were picked. Not only did we have store size to contend with but we needed to separate the sales from small items to big items on the shelf. The smaller items will be far fewer quantities than you're used to but they will still cover the same sales. For the medium or large stores that just didn't have the sales to justify a lot of inventory, you will be getting empty K/N FIPK boxes to make up for the lack of large inventory levels. Instruction: Return your overstock on your next SCHEDULED stock return.
10-8-08 Suspension
EXP (EXP2,EXP3, SUSP, SUSP1, EDEPL, EDENR, 4WD, POLY, BLK, KITS), RAN, SUP, FAB, G/F, PER, T/M, DAY, RDY, SKY, RIZ
Potential cash-n-carry items (Pitman Arms, Coils, Leaf Springs, Brake Lines, U-Bolt Kits, Add-A-Leaf, Poly, Traction Bars, Jeep) have a ROP of "1" if 4 were sold in the last 6 months. (leaf springs in qty of 2) Regular high movement component were consolidated to their best master kit and ROPs were given to a handful of stores who move them best. The remainder will be returned to your DC.
Instruction: Return your overstock on your next SCHEDULED stock return.
Shocks & Boots
EXP, RAN, SUP, SKY
Shocks were favored in Pro Comp to cover most of your popular applications. The remaining vendors will be coming back for the most part. Not saying there were no sales just not usually enough to keep any on hand compared to EXP. Boots were condensed down to the most popular 9 colors and everybody got those except the smaller stores who have a smaller mix.
Instruction: Return your overstock on your next SCHEDULED stock return.
Lights
EXP, HLA, PIA, K/C
Pro Comp of coarse is stocked on the favorable side of things. All ROPs were loaded in pairs except for pair packs. Inventory mixes varied in size due to store size unless your sales demanded more. Hella has a few new numbers we are shifting to in this issue. You will see a handful of FunPacks replaceing a few older styles/sku. Size guides were 16' of gondola for large going down to just 8' in the small stores.
Instruction: No return, Sell down to your new ROP value..
Tires
PCT, BFG, TOY, M/T, SST, NIT
Tires have been added to this week's updates. These lines are based on sales with exception to OEM replacement tires. Some of these sizes we already currently stock. This handful of SKU have been added to your ROP level in anticipation of demand we can fulfill from our inventory without having to order from BibX or ATD.
Instruction: Return your overstock on your next SCHEDULED stock return.
11-12-08 Jeep
BST, JKS, MAX, MCS, SUN, TFY, W/I
The upload for Jeep products was posted this morning. This included BST, JKS, MAX, MCS, SUN, TFY and W/I. Smittybilt was not included since it was already previously done. For Bestop this will be on the lighter side going into winter. On the next review in the beginning of summer it will be a bit heavier going into the season. Bestop sent you new POP signage a couple months ago. This will help keep the walls full with current information for this category. If you have a really large store and sections that could use more product there are still empty Bestop display boxes available if needed. Warrior, for some, had ROPs set with little or no sales to back it up. It is required that we keep a least a small handful of Warrior from a previous vendor agreement. Please work this category in with your Smittybilt to make a full and comprehensive Jeep section on your walls. Also a last note to make sure your Jeep floor displays are placed as close as you can to this section.
Instruction: Return your overstock on your next SCHEDULED stock return.
12-1-08 Accessories
This update includes: AAS, AIR, CCD, CIP, EKM, EXP (Access), EZR, FIR, FLX, GOR, HEL, HIT, JBW, LOC, NEO, SPR, SPS, TRI, TZI & WEA
Accessories are being posted today. This category doesn't tend to rely on space requirements as much as others because they tend to be scattered on walls, over doorways and endcaps. What it does address is slower vendors that tend to fall through the cracks for representation within the showrooms. And on the flip side addresses vendors that just need to be cleaned up.
As usual please review and adjust if you have an individual need for your stores.
(Grant, Blitz & Painless Wiring are still pending and will be scheduled at a later date)
Do Not send JBW or LOC back to your DC.
Instruction: Return your overstock on your next SCHEDULED stock return.
